For some it helps create a zone of security and stability…for others it’s unlikely to survive to its twentieth birthday…the euro is ten years old this month, and today we’re asking if Britain should consider joining it. When it arrived – firstly as a virtual currency, and three years later as notes and coins – it received a lukewarm reception. But now as the pound slumps in value while the euro holds firm, some economists are saying it’s time to look again at Britain’s position.
