World on 3 - The Family Elan

Mary Ann Kennedy with music from across the globe, plus a studio session with Yorkshire-based band The Family Elan. The Family Elan are led by bouzouki player Chris Hladowski and his sister, the singer Stephanie Hladowski, who both also play with other bands such as A Hawk and a Hacksaw. Their chief influence is traditional music from Eastern Europe, and they freely adapt old songs heard from field recordings into new compositions, giving them a kind of 21st-century Polish-Yorkshire slant. Their new album 'Bow Low Bright Glow' came out earlier this year.
