World on 3 - New Year Special 2011

Mary Ann Kennedy celebrates the New Year at home in the Western Highlands, in the company of veteran musicians as well as new young voices. The Battlefield Band have been piping and fiddling their way through Scots traditional music for 40 years; Michael Marra is one of Scotland's leading songwriters, with songs such as 'Hamish the Goalie' and 'If I was an Englishman'; sisters Emily, Jessica and Camilla Staveley-Taylor are three sisters from Watford who are making waves as the 'folktastic' band The Staves.
