Lopa Kothari with new releases from across the globe, plus a studio session with Paris-based singer-songwriter Hindi Zahra. Born in Morocco, Hindi Zahra writes songs which reflect the many styles of music she heard as a child - her Berber heritage, the Algerian 'chabi' of Cheikha Rimitti, music of the desert bluesmen of the Sahara, the soulful singing of Aretha Franklin, and the gypsy jazz of Django Reinhardt. She moved to Paris as a young girl, got a job at the Louvre, and began writing gentle, artful songs, last year delighting the audience with her performance on BBC Radio 3's stage at WOMAD.
