Two World Champions are in action at the Crucible. 2002 winner Peter Ebdon, starts out against Nigel Bond, while Shaun Murphy, the surprise winner in 2005, begins his campaign against Andrew Higginson, former Welsh Open runner-up. Two players will book their places in the last sixteen too, with the all-China clash between Ding Junhui and Liang Wenbo reaching its conclusion, together with the match between Joe Perry and Jamie Cope. Ray Stubbs and John Parrott introduce the action from the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.
