Presented by Jane Garvey. What impact has the government's new system had on childminding? Jane talks to the Chief Executive of the National Childminding Association Liz Bayram and Eileen Atkinson, a childminder who was recently inspected under the new system. It took Jane Haynes years of therapy to understand how a childhood marked by secrets and abandonment had affected her personality. Now a psychotherapist herself, she has written a candid account of her experiences. She explains why she felt it was time to disclose aspects of her own past in the form of a memoir. In an interview recorded shortly before her death, Winifred Foley talked to Felicity Finch about her writing, and about the village of her childhood, Brierly, in the Forest of Dean. A major new study by the University of Cape Town has examined the lives of 4,000 teenagers growing up in the New South Africa. Jane discusses the findings with Dr Rachel Bray of the University of Cape Town, and Luyanda Mbi, who has trained as a peer educator. Including drama: Daunt and Dervish.
