Jenni Murray talks to Roy about his successful career and the poignant story of his turbulent family life, which saw him raised by his adored grandmother. A new study from New York shows that the number of women opting for surgery to remove a healthy breast after a cancer diagnosis in the other breast is rising. So what are the factors to take into account when deciding to have a preventative mastectomy, and what are the benefits? Jenni talks to Prof Gareth Evans, Consultant in Genetic Medicine, and Wendy Watson, who opted for a preventative double mastectomy and now runs the National Hereditary Breast Cancer Helpline.
