Presented by Jenni Murray. Does having a mother who works make daughters keen to follow her influence by carving out a career for herself? Three female generations from the same family join Jenni to compare views. Garry Newlove's widow Helen talks about the night he was killed outside their Warrington home, and about Newlove Warrington, a campaign that aims to provide opportunities for all members of the community and to bridge the gap between generations. Sales of mince have risen significantly as families everywhere try to keep a lid on food bills in these days of early recession. Andrew Nutter, award-winning chef and butcher's son, joins Jenni to show how mince for tea can really be the tastiest meal of the week. Sculptor Sophia Clist has used six miles of knicker elastic to create a bizarre interactive sound sculpture called Stretch. Caz Graham joined Sophia and a group of school children making themselves heard on this strange kinetic sculpture. The police in Torquay have followed the lead of some charities and are hanging around outside nightclubs where young women will be given flip flops with messages about the dangers of drink written on them. How useful a way of spending police resources is it? Superintendent Chris Singer joins Jenni to explain the initiative. Including drama: Aubrey's Brief Lives.
