Ten generations on Kathleen Kent, direct descendant of Martha Carrier, has written her first novel based on Martha's story and family history. A new ruling from the Law Lords says care workers and nurses accused of abuse should not be suspended and should not lose pay until the case against them is proven. The government now faces compensation claims worth millions of pounds.
