Presented by Jenni Murray. Home Secretary Jacqui Smith joins Jenni to discuss the new government measures to protect vulnerable women and tackle the demand for prostitution. She also talks about her first year as the first female Home Secretary and how she is dealing with counter-terrorism, immigration and street crime. The average earnings of black women in Britain are now higher than their white counterparts. So why are black Caribbean women doing so well now? Jenni is joined by journalist for The Voice, Trudy Simpson, and Dr Catherine Hakim, sociologist at the London School of Economics. Sybil Thorndike was one of the great pioneering actresses of the 20th century. In addition to her theatrical achievements she was a suffragette, a socialist, and a pacifist, who campaigned on many issues throughout her life. Jonathan Croall has written her biography and joins Jenni to talk about Sybil's unstoppable personality and the struggles she faced combining her public and private lives. Including drama: A Taste for Death.
