In 2001 the former sports journalist Sarah Forde founded Moving the Goal Posts, a charity which uses football to develop essential life skills in vulnerable young women in Kilifi. Sarah is taking three of her players to the World Cup next year. She describes her experiences of coaching a girls' football team in an impoverished part of Kenya, and explain how the project became so successful. The journalist Xinran was well known in China for her radio phone-in programme, Words on a Night Breeze, in which she invited women to talk about their lives. Many wrote to share their pain at having to give up their daughters. Xinran joins Jane to discuss her latest book which includes some of their heartbreaking stories, as well as her own.
