Wild About Animals - Crocodiles

Crocodiles have been around for 70 million years since the age of the dinosaurs. Carl is a newly hatched baby Nile crocodile who lives in the Luangwa River, in Zambia. His mother, Twinkle, fought for this good nest site and has guarded it for months. Twinkle digs Carl and his forty or so hatching brothers and sisters out of the nest and carries them to a nursery pond. Unlike most reptile species, Twinkle stays with her young for five weeks defending them from predators, including another marauding crocodile that wants to eat them! Carl enjoys life, swimming and hunting spiders and frogs. But Twinkle is hungry - she hasn't eaten for months, and one night, before Carl is six weeks old, she slips away, leaving him to fend for himself.
