Jackie Ashley of The Guardian looks at the coalition government's plans to reform welfare and its strategy to leave Afghanistan within five years. She also talks to the Lib Dem deputy leader, Simon Hughes. On welfare, the former work and pensions secretary, Labour's Peter Hain, tells her that the coalition's hopes of getting people off some benefits will actually cost the state more in the short term. On Afghanistan, the Conservative, Adam Holloway, who has visited the country, explains why doing a deal with the Taliban is essential to a successful outcome.
