Roberto Donadoni's men are looking to become the first Italian side to become both world and European champions. The Azzurri will be keen to make a good start, aware that France await in their final Group C match, desperate to avenge defeat in the 2006 World Cup final. The Dutch have a fine European pedigree, reaching the semi-finals in three of the four tournaments since they lifted the trophy in 1988. Coach Marco van Basten has plenty of attacking options, including Real Madrid duo Ruud van Nistelrooy and Arjen Robben and Arsenal's Robin van Persie. However, they will have their work cut out against an Italy side renowned for their dogged defence. France, winners in 2000, begin their campaign in Zurich against Romania. Coached by the eccentric Raymond Domenech, who admits his team selection is influenced by astrology, Les Bleus begin as one of the tournament favourites. Having been eliminated from Euro 2004 by surprise winners Greece, however, the French will be wary of underestimating the Romanians.
