Twenty Minutes - Jonathan Harvey and the IRCAM Factor

To coincide with its first visit to the UK, Sara Mohr-Pietsch explores the work of IRCAM, the French organisation dedicated to contemporary musical research and production, hearing the music and thoughts of composer Jonathan Harvey as well as various musical personalities associated with it. With Gilbert Nouno, one of their finest electronic musicians/technicians, director Frank Madelener, composers Sally Beamish and Martin Suckling, who attended the IRCAM workshops in Glasgow, as well as Hugh MacDonald, formerly the director of the SSO. The programme features Harvey's second string quartet as well as excerpts from Mortuos Plangos, Bird concerto for pianosong and Wagner Dream.
