The Planners Are Coming - How Not to Build

Next-door neighbours can be a nightmare, particularly if they are developers renovating a building. Jane and her son Ben are having their lives blighted by the work being carried out which is damaging their own home, and flouting planning laws and building regulations. Building Control Officer Angus Mackay investigates and becomes increasingly alarmed by what he discovers. Can he bring the wayward developer and his builders under control before someone pays the ultimate price? A few miles away, another set of neighbours at are hoping to stop a development before it has begun Richard Myers and his brother want to build some flats on top of their carpet warehouse to help their kids get on to the property ladder, but trying to give them a leg up is also giving the neighbours a huge headache. It is not just what is built that brings a visit from the planners; permission also has to be granted when the use of land or buildings is changed. In Essex, Enforcement Officer Brian Taplin is seriously concerned about cars left by passengers flying out of Stansted Airport which are turning up on agricultural land. Paying for a meet and greet parking service at the airport doesn't guarantee the car's security and there are big profits to be made by those operating these illegal car parks - and big fines waiting for them if Brian can track them down.
