For the critically ill, nursing care is a lifeline, and a hospital ward can become a second home. Sickle cell anaemia is a chronic condition which can put sufferers in hospital up to six times a year, yet we know precious little about one of the most commonly inherited diseases in Britain. Through one of Whipps' most senior Matrons, we meet two sufferers battling this disease.
