Scottish Salsa sensation, Salsa Celtica are about to start their 15th anniversary tour. It all started when Toby Shippey first bought together a group of musicians for some relatively informal Sunday evening bar sessions in an Edinburgh pub. What came out of those sessions was a unique fusion of Folk, Jazz and Salsa...something that hadn't been done in Scotland before. Toby joins Bruce along with the bands newest member, Cuban, Jorge Eversley-Goulbourne to talk about the unique mix and infectious sound of the music. According to composer Stephen Deazley, Scotland doesn't have the skills or resources to properly introduce our school children to world music - until now. The Love Music Festival is a brand new initiative that over two weeks in November aims to introduce over 9,000 Scottish schoolchildren to world music with a combination of live acts and school workshops. For the very first time in their histories, The University of St. Andrews Chapel Choir and the Chambers Choirs of Aberdeen and Edinburgh Universities are coming together for a series of unique concerts put together by The John Armitage Memorial (JAM). Aimed at promoting choral music and composers, in 2010 JAM celebrates it's 10th anniversary and returns to Scotland this week for the first time in 4 years. The Music Café has had a sneak preview of the choirs in rehearsal.
