Mike Harding presents an hour of the very best in folk, roots and acoustic music and this week's show features an interview with the Scottish singer-songwriter Karine Polwart. Karine has taken a break from solo work to look after her young family and take part in two collaborative music projects. Earlier this year she hooked up with Lau - three-time winners of the Best Group prize at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards - to make the Evergreen EP, under the name of Lau vs Karine Polwart. Karine has also joined forces with King Creosote, Emma Pollock, MC Soom T, Future Pilot AKA, Kim Edgar, Mattie Foulds and Michael Johnston to form The Burns Unit, an eight-piece Scottish-Canadian ensemble. The Burns Unit are launching their kaleidoscopic debut album Side Show with performances at the Cambridge Folk Festival in the last weekend of July.
