Plus, an interview with Orcadian musician and singer Kris Drever and tracks from his forthcoming solo album Mark The Hard Earth. It's his first solo release since his debut Black Water in 2006, an album that won much critical acclaim and Kris went on to win the Horizon Award at the 2007 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. As well as chatting about the new album and some of the songs on it, Kris discusses the thriving folk scene in his home city Edinburgh and how he finds time for all of the various projects he's involved in. Aside from his solo work, Kris is the guitarist and singer with the group Lau, who have been voted Best Group for the past three years at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. He also works alongside multi-instrumentalist John McCusker and Idlewild vocalist Roddy Woomble in the trio Drever/McCusker/Woomble and plays in a duo with banjo supremo Eamonn Coyne as well as being in high demand as a session musician, appearing with the likes of Kate Rusby and Eddi Reader both on stage and on recordings. He supports the release of Mark The Hard Earth with live dates across the UK in April and May.
