Fun Lovin' Criminal Huey Morgan brings you the perfect soundtrack to your Sunday afternoon. His guest this week is Nile Rodgers, one half of Chic, super-producer, iconic guitarist and Huey's musical hero. New York born Rodgers surfed the crest of disco with his musical partner Bernard Edwards in Chic, spawning hits such as Le Freak, Good Times and He's The Greatest Dancer compositions which have had secondary and even tertiary lives as samples found in seminal work by The Sugarhill Gang and Will Smith. Not content with this success Rodgers has leant his distinctive guitar licks and production skills to a host of rock and pop's finest from David Bowie, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Duran Duran, Eric Clapton to Britney Spears, winning a Grammy with Jeff Beck along the way. He talks to Huey ahead of a London tour date with Chic about meeting Bowie, life as a New York scenester in the 70s and 80s and starting out as a teenager at the Apollo Club in Harlem backing Aretha Franklin. With his motto "if it's cool, I'll play it", Huey also plays an eclectic mix of the best music from the past six decades, spanning rock, rap, disco, soul and Latino. Plus legendary producer Arthur Baker trawls his record collection for some rare vinyl and listeners suggest their Sunday chill-out jams in Slack Sabbath.
