To begin Week Two of our Festival Café Shows from Venue 150: The New York-based company Elevator Repair Service have made a name for themselves turning classic American novels into highly-acclaimed theatre. Their new show, based on Ernest Hemingway's The Sun Also Rises, has its world premiere in Edinburgh this month and the director and cast will be joining us to give us a taste of their trademark style and panache. Actress Ali Kennedy-Scott will be performing excerpts from her show, The Day the Sky Turned Black, which she researched and wrote after returning home to Australia in the aftermath of the devastating bushfires of February 2009. Icelandic tenor Bjartmar Sigurdsson sings for us and describes the challenge of performing at the Tattoo in front of nine thousand people. And the Senegalese band Samba Sene and Diwan will play us their joyous brand of Afro-beat funk. Come and join us at Venue 150!
