Writer and newspaper columnist A.N. Wilson presents today's essay on Tolstoy. To mark the 100th anniversary of his death, The Essay" this week considers the life and work of one of the giants of Russian literature - Leo Tolstoy. Famous for works like the novels War and Peace and Anna Karenina and novellas such as Hadji Murad and The Death of Ivan Ilyich Tolstoy continues to fascinate modern audiences. In these programmes, five different presenters explain their own passion for the works of Tolstoy and the Russia he evokes.
