As part of Art and Early Music Month, Lucie Skeaping presents a programme celebrating musical instruments as artistic objects in their own right. She visits the Bate Collection of historical instruments in Oxford and is shown some of the most interesting exhibits by the curator, Andy Lamb. The music features recordings of specific instruments found at the museum, including a 17th-Century recorder, played by Peter Holtslag, and a beautiful English harpsichord, on which Martin Souter plays music by Purcell.
