A last-ditch attempt to block the planned Lloyds TSB takeover of HBOS has been launched. The legal bid is being mounted by the Merger Action Group (MAG); we speak to its spokesman, Edinburgh architect Malcolm Fraser. It's been a thoroughly miserable week for retailers, with both Woolworths and MFI slipping into administration and profits tumbling at Curry's owner DSG.
