Michael Freedland's series tracking the lives of big stars through ordinary people who met them turns its attention to 'the fastest gagman in the business', Bob Hope. Freedland meets up with the family, friends and the restaurateurs, butlers, writers and musicians who knew the star. 1/6. Hope's trail begins in Hitchin (though he was born in Eltham, London), where some of his relatives still live. It quickly moves to Cleveland, Ohio, and then on to New York and Hollywood.
