Ten shy children who love to sing but are terrified of performing in public are put through their paces by choirmaster extraordinaire Gareth Malone. Having already worked his magic on a tone-deaf town, reluctant schoolboys and wayward teenagers, Gareth attempts to build the youngsters' fragile confidence and turn them into singing stars capable of performing in front of a massive crowd - 40,000 people at London's Proms in the Park. The Big Performance tour bus is heading to Emily's hometown of Liverpool, as the group gets ready to rock out, singing a track by Muse. This style of music is all about bringing out a rock star alter ego and a confident attitude to match - not something these shy performers are used to at all, especially soloist Emily. To help transform them from singing statues to crowd-pleasing rock stars, Gareth gets none other than CBBC favourite Barney Harwood to show them just how it's done. Rocking out doesn't come naturally to this group, so Barney and Gareth need to unleash the shy singers' inner rock stars and fast, and what better way than with an air guitar rock-off? The gang take on their most public performance yet, busking to raise money for Children in Need in the middle of the busiest shopping centre in Liverpool. The challenge is on, can they entice a crowd with their singing and raise some serious cash, or will they go home empty-handed?
