David tries to avoid Bert, who eventually collars Ruth and David despondently at the Bull; the Massey tractor definitely won't be fixed in time for the next ploughing match. David and Ruth console him saying there'll be other ploughing matches where he can catch up points, but Bert's not convinced and skulks off to the corner of the pub. Kirsty has double-booked herself, so Fallon's pleased when Ed says he'll help at the Bull when Sid and Jolene are at the Village Cup final. They agree it will be fun. Clarrie's annoyed that Nic knew about Will's letter from Aunt Hilda before she did. And she didn't like Nic's excited reaction to the news of Will's potential inheritance. Eddie defends Nic, telling Clarrie not to be so critical. When Ed appears Clarrie tries surreptitiously to find out if he's had a letter too - but he hasn't. So Clarrie wonders whether their letter has gone to Grange Farm instead. If Will's favoured over Ed, it will drive another wedge between them. She decides that if a letter doesn't come for them tomorrow she's going to phone the executor, cousin Ralph, to find out what's going on.
