Hayley's feeling sick and admits it's probably not a good idea to go to the Darrington Fair with Roy and Phoebe. Anyway, it'll give her a chance to help Mike write his lonely hearts ad. Hayley insists it's all about accentuating the positive to make people think he sounds interesting but Mike's less enthusiastic, and is reluctant to put anything other than the basic truth - 'widower, 57, self-employed...' He doesn't want them to be disappointed when they meet him. When Hayley tells Roy how uninspiring the ad sounds, he suggests they send Hayley's version as well as Mike's, to see which gets the most replies. Tom's having a great day at the fair, until Brenda announces she wants tomorrow off to prepare for Tuesday's planning appeal meeting. Tom's not happy at playing second fiddle to Matt but has no choice, especially when Brenda arranges for Jazzer to cover for her on Gourmet Grills. Tom's also got a booking on the day of the trip to Lord's. When they hear Sid's even considering taking Jolene, Tom can't understand why. Brenda points out that it's not just about cricket. It's an all expenses paid trip to London, and she'd really love to have gone.
