Christmas Day goes really well for Kathy. Lunch at the Bull turns out to be a very good idea. Seeing Ed working there, Kenton remarks on how love makes you do funny things - he should know! By the time Ruth finishes milking, Heather has most of the lunch preparations in hand. Phil and Jill ring from New Zealand; they're having a great time. When Shula and Alistair arrive, Daniel goes off to join the other children, while Jim wastes no time in charming Heather with his disappearing handkerchief trick. It seems everyone's enjoying the day, except maybe Shula who's ready for a stiff drink - especially when she learns that Jim's accepted an invitation for them to spend New Year's Eve with the Grundy's. After a fabulous lunch, everyone insists it's time for Heather to relax - except for Jim's who's already dropped off. Tipsy Shula encourages Josh and Ben to decorate his plaster cast. When Jim finally stirs, he finds himself all alone but it doesn't take him long to realise what the 'little beggars' have done. He's furious - and shouts out for Alistair and Shula.
