David tells Alistair he has been to have a look at the refurbished cottage that had a yew hedge. He's got the contact details for the builder and is going to call tomorrow. Then he asks Alistair if he'd like to be reinstated as vet to the Brookfield dairy herd. Alistair is pleased to accept. David tells him there were one or two questionable decisions made while Sam was around - but they're putting it all right now. Alice has had a long and bad day at work. Alan tells Usha of the strains of living with two teenage girls - and now they've had a big bust up over Alice's ambitions to join the RAF. Amy can't believe it, and has been very forceful. Later, over the meal (at which Amy is not present) Alice is surprised to discover that Usha is quite supportive. She's lived under a dictatorship, and been thrown out of her own country. She believes you need someone ready to take action. Alan doesn't entirely agree. It's a grown up conversation, at the end of which Alice reaffirms her ambition. She's going to the careers office on Friday, whatever Amy or anyone else thinks. Episode written by Adrian Flynn.
