Tom wonders why Adam can't help Brian with the lambs. Even though Tom's busy, Brian won't take no for an answer. Hayley wants Mike to join a dance club and is sure it's what Betty would want but Mike's not sure he's up for it. Mike's surprised to hear Hayley remark on William being unusually upbeat and chatty. Jennifer doesn't want to send Ruairi to a private school. She thinks he'd be better at Loxley Barratt where at least he'll know Ben and the twins. Jennifer invites Peggy and Jack round for Jack's 88th birthday, partly in the hope that Alice will come. When Peggy suggests it, Alice tells her how she's feeling. Peggy tells her what she thinks and Alice is surprised that Peggy told Brian his behaviour has been despicable. After Peggy spells out what went on, Alice promises to think about the situation, and tells Peggy she'll be there on Thursday. Peggy tells Jennifer that Alice is still very angry and doesn't think they can blame her. They'll never know how things might have been, so they must live with the decision they made and move on. Peggy suggests they attempt to celebrate Jack's birthday together peacefully and happily. Episode written by Michael Barrington.
