Jim realises he's given Joe the casserole Shula had prepared for lunch with Caroline. Jim tells Shula about the stuffing and apologises, explaining that he thought the casserole was left-overs. Ruth sympathises with Shula. David thinks Shula just needs to learn how to handle Jim. Ruth's glad that David gets on with Jim, because she's invited them all over for Christmas dinner! David thinks it's a bit rude considering Heather's with them for once. Ruth insists her mum won't mind, and David jokes that Ruth's trying to set her up with Jim. David's worried about the outfit Pip's planning to wear for the Young Farmers' disco. Ruth's more concerned about putting plans in place for when she has her operation. Elizabeth learns she's being called as a witness in Taylor's court case - for the defence! Nigel tries to assure her that it'll be ok: after all, Elizabeth is on Kathy's side. Elizabeth doesn't think Kathy's going to see it like that and can't see how she's going to tell her. But Nigel doesn't think Elizabeth could keep it from Kathy. Elizabeth knows he's right; she's got to tell Kathy, but what on earth is she going to say? Episode written by Mary Cutler.
