To coincide with the 200th anniversary of the birth of Nikolai Gogol, Hardeep Singh Kohli examines the writer's life and work. He travels to his place of birth in the east of Kiev, and talks to Alistair Beaton, the translator of Gogol's only play, and to the deputy director of the Gogol house and museum.
