The first major cup final of the season sees Craig Levein's Dundee Utd take on Walter Smith's Rangers. The Tannadice club lifted the League Cup in 1979/80 and again in 1980/81 - their first major trophies winds, kicking off their eighties heyday under the leadership of Jim McLean. They also lost two finals to today's opponents in 1981/82 and 1984/85. Since then United have experienced more downs than ups, and recently-appointed boss Levein will be eager to repay the faith shown in him by chairman Eddie Thomson. Rangers have an illustrious League Cup history having won the trophy a record twenty-four times, last lifting the cup after a 5-1 victory over Motherwell in 2005. With a revitalised squad based around a core of homegrown players, the Ibrox faithful will be looking for win number twenty-five in Smith's first final since his return to the Glasgow club. Dougie Donnelly presents coverage from Hampden with Pat Nevin, John Collins and Ian McCall. Commentary is from Paul Mitchell and Billy Dodds.
