Starting this week is The Sixties Chronicles digging into the archives for events of this coming week during the 1960's. With the news stories, social happenings, the week's events in music, films, on tv and in show business as well as a look at what you might have bought with your pounds, shillings and pence. This week Lady Chatterley's Lover, Christine Keeler, Rod Stewart's first single, the opening of the Forth Road Bridge and which high street bank was 'The Bank For Go Ahead People'? In this week in 1963 the first credit card came to the UK while in 1966 on America's NBC network, viewers tuned in to watch the opening episode of Star Trek. Also included are tracks from The 1910 Fruitgum Company, Grapefruit, Bobbie Gentry, The New Christie Minstrels, Jackie Trent and The Kinks. There are two from The Casuals and the Three-In-A-Row are chosen by Gerald Thorburn. Sounds Of The Sixties began in 1983 and Brian has been at helm since 1990, bringing to the programme his distinctive voice and unmatchable experience of sixties shows.
