Songwriter and lyricist Carl Sigman is the principal subject of Russell Davies' Song Show this week - who was born 100 years ago this week, on September 24th 1909. For such an unsung name, his oeuvre is very well-known indeed. We hear Nat King Cole singing his Ballerina; Jeri Southern with Crazy He Calls Me; as well as Louis Prima, Rosemary Clooney, Mel Torme, Mildred Bailey, Frank Sinatra and Louis Armstrong with more of his familiar songs. It's All In The Game was one of his and Russell plays his briefest lyric of all - by Glenn Miller and his Orchestra - Pennsylvania 6-5000! A CD featuring The Pizzarelli family in Western mode gives us two brand new recordings before we return to Sigman for one more of his, this time sung by Perry Como: Dream Along With Me.
