Russell Davies celebrates the art, craft and inspiration of the popular song. Three distinct themes make up the bulk of this week's programme: books in song; nonagenarians; and, as 2010 marks the centenary of Fathers' Day, songs about "Dear Old Dad". For Fathers' Day we turn to Crosby (father and son), Judy Collins, Bunny Berigan and Nat King Cole. Our 90-year olds include Kay Twomey, composer of In A Little Book Shop and Mother Nature And Father Time; singer Herb Jeffries; and Dame Vera Lynn, who takes us home with It's A Pity To Say Goodnight.
