The anniversary of the Cole Porter Show, Dubarry Was A Lady, which opened on Broadway on 6 December 1939, inspires Russell to have a look at the score. Rescued from obscurity thanks to a new CD, singer-pianist Joan Edwards' talents are displayed in two tracks by Russell, who also introduces another new release by cabaret artist Steve Ross. This leads to memories of recently-departed Art D'Lugoff, who ran New York's cabaret spot, The Village Gate where Russell once met Lil Armstrong. Further thoughts on Greenwich Village acts lead to The Weavers and Andy Williams' Kisses Sweeter Than Wine.
