Jennifer manages to get Charlie and Innes talking again. Everything is fine until Marianne arrives. She's concerned Innes hasn't returned to the surgery for his results. Innes tries to get Marianne to leave, but she confirms he has epilepsy. Jennifer suspects something may be up with Innes, but the earlier harmony in the flat is short-lived when he has another go at her. Fed up, Charlie tells him to pack his things. Jennifer is surprised at Charlie's overreaction, but Innes is happy to go. Innes then stubbornly rejects Charlie's olive branch. At the centre Innes is blanked by Joe, who's miffed he didn't turn up for training. Ignoring the fact that it was a seizure which stopped him attending training, Innes determines to work hard and convince Joe he's worth a second chance. Joe even offers him his couch if Innes is stuck for somewhere to stay. Marianne and Jennifer take it in turns to try and get through to Innes, but when an oblivious Joe increases his sparring training it becomes clear that Innes isn't taking his condition seriously. Marianne is panicked when Jennifer tells her of Innes's impending boxing match and the race is on to stop him before it's too late. In the community centre, Innes is in the ring and about to begin the fight when Marianne, Jennifer and Charlie rush in. Marianne yells at them to halt the match and Innes is embarrassed, but everyone is shocked when he falls to the floor in a seizure without a punch having been thrown. Jennifer, Charlie and Joe all look on helplessly. They all feel somehow responsible for Innes's condition, even if they don't know what's wrong with him yet. Upon his return from hospital, Innes finally opens up to his friends and reveals he has epilepsy. Jennifer and Charlie are stunned, yet resolve to help their friend. What's that coming over the hill? No, it's not a monster, but Big Bob, dressed as a huge tomato, and he's being chased down Montego Street by a group of Neds. He is saved by Jimmy who takes him into the Tall Ship to see Scarlett, but she's not interested in talking to him. Even though she feels sorry for him, Scarlett still refuses to make up with her brother, much to Jimmy's frustration. Jimmy decides on some positive action and calls Molly, but when she turns up at the flat Scarlett is incensed. Scarlett sends Molly packing with a flea in her ear and the promise that Scarlett will help Big Bob stand on his own two feet for once. Scarlett's attempts to get Big Bob a job end in disaster each time: he messes up in the Tall Ship, crashes a car in Bob's garage, and ruins a party order of Gina's in the Oyster Cafe. Later, all hell breaks loose when Molly arrives at the Mullen flat for dinner. Scarlett fumes at Molly's snide comments while poor old Jimmy barely manages to keep the peace. Molly scoffs at hapless Big Bob and Scarlett quietly seethes until her mother's antagonism finally gets the better of her and she kicks both Molly and Big Bob out of the flat. Jimmy is shocked, yet he knows when not to mess with his wife. Scarlett warns Jimmy he'll be next out the door if ever invites Molly into their home again. Malcolm gets an unwelcome surprise when he learns of the death of an old friend. He's been asked to give the eulogy, but Liz is stunned when he tells her he won't even attend the funeral. Clearly, there is something troubling Malcolm, but he's not going to let on to Liz. Later, Liz finds some literature on asbestos-related illnesses and she gets busy doing research. However it's only when Liz becomes frustrated by Malcolm's refusal to listen to the new information that he begins to think he'd be better opening up about his condition. It isn't easy for such a strong family man to admit his fears. Malcolm slowly realizes that Liz is right and he has to tell his girls the truth - they'll be devastated, but he tells them all the same. Alone with Liz, Malcolm asks her to go with him to his friend's funeral - he has a eulogy to give.
