Scarlett wakes in the morning to find that she is starting to lose her hair due to the chemo treatment. On top of that, their fridge has packed in. Another expense. Jimmy insists that he'll deal with it and tells Scarlett to rest. As we know, Scarlett isn't one for sitting still but gets more than she bargained for when she thinks she's helping Jimmy but instead finds his stash of final demand bills - she never knew money was so tight. Then Gabriel and Leo arrive at her front door with a new fridge. Scarlett is immediately suspicious and gets it out of Gabriel that Jimmy has been doing some odd jobs for him. Meanwhile, Eileen is frustrated to hear that Murray has mucked up her plans for politician Nick Morrison's big visit to Shieldinch at the Burns Night. She starts to pinch Raymond's staff from the Tall Ship and is particularly pleased when Scarlett appears looking to get back to work. Raymond doesn't understand what all the fuss is about but when Jo mentions just how good looking Nick Morrison is, suddenly the penny drops and Raymond's jealousy is piqued. Jimmy is angry to discover Scarlett behind the bar but neither feels they can confess what they know about their finances so Scarlett remains at work. Jimmy's pride then takes another dent when Molly and Theresa turn up with some cash to help out with the bills. As the Burns Supper is warming up, Eileen bigs up the community to Nick Morrison, referencing Stella's homelessness and Scarlett's cancer as examples of how supportive the people of Shieldinch can be. She introduces Nick to Michael and they immediately fall into an easy conversation. Eileen is left on the peripheries, feeling a bit left out. Leyla is shocked to find a hair in her dessert but has already made a fuss before she realises it belongs to Scarlett. Embarrassed, Scarlett hurries out and Leo uses the distraction to take Leyla's surgery keys from her bag. Leo and Hayley sneak out of the Burns Supper just as Nick is about to make a speech. Nick uses the opportunity to talk about Scarlett's illness, which he mistakenly attributes to breast cancer. When he finishes, Scarlett has a few choice words of her own for Mr Morrison. Nick chases after her and proposes a deal - if she helps him with the common touch, he'll help her raise awareness and support for ovarian cancer. She agrees. Back at the Mullens', Scarlett explains to Jimmy that today was about regaining control of her life and she wants him to help with one more thing - shaving her head. Jimmy agrees and uses his own clippers as the tears fall down his face. Liz agrees to look after Eilidh for the day, but doesn't agree with Ruth's mollycoddling ways. She and Ruth fight about Eilidh and Ruth stomps off with her daughter. Ruth is so obsessed with Eilidh's health that she doesn't realise Andy is trying to tell her something. She also doesn't see how much she is pushing him away. Meanwhile, Liz is sure there's something wrong with Ruth but her concern falls on deaf ears with Malcolm and Gina. In desperation, Liz turns to Dr Brodie who agrees to have a word. But before Michael can speak to Ruth, she blows up at him for treating her so unprofessionally. The argument climaxes with Michael suspending her. Gina tries to be supportive but she too has her concern thrown back at her. As Andy is chased for an answer about the job in Dubai he comes to the realisation that he's not scared of leaving, he' scared of staying. Leo is running out of painkillers. He tries his best to get on with life in Shieldinch - helping Gabriel, going on a date with Hayley - but his mind is only ever on one thing. Leo steals Leyla's keys to the surgery but trips the alarm. Annoyed at himself, he only has time to take some prescription pads and smash the place up to make it look like a break-in.
