Big Bob receives a call confirming that The Bobtones have secured a corporate gig. Iona, Bob and Drew are delighted and meet to discuss their set list for the gig. When talking with Bob, Jimmy realises that Bob's got a big crush on Iona. Bob reluctantly confirms this but worries that Iona is out of his league. Jimmy insists he's got nothing to lose by asking her out. Bob then nervously asks Iona out for a drink at The Ship; he is surprised when she says yes so readily and he goes off to get ready. The 'date' is going well but Bob mistakes Iona's enthusiasm for the band for liking him. Later, Jimmy asks Bob whether he told Iona about his feelings. Bob admits he hasn't yet, but that he knows she likes him. In the community centre Bob speaks to Drew about women. Drew admits that he envies Bob as he's a natural whereas he's more of a one-night stand kind of guy. Drew tries to coach Bob but Bob dares him to prove his technique by trying out his lines on Eileen. Bob is impressed. Drew tells Bob he needs help - he can pull but he never knows what to say to women on a proper date. They agree to help each other. Bob tells Drew about 'listening' to women and gives him some sample romantic lines to Drew, who absorbs every line. Ruth comes to the deli and picks up a letter left on the floor to Iona; it's a beautiful romantic letter asking Iona out on a date. Elsewhere, Big Bob decides he's finally going to tell Iona exactly how he feels. When they bump into each other Bob is devastated when Iona tells him Drew has asked her out. Iona asks Bob whether he minds her going out with a fellow band member - Bob puts his own feelings aside and tells Iona to go for it. Jimmy takes Bob to The Ship to cheer him up but just then Drew and Iona walk in. Drew comes over and, oblivious to the pain he's causing Bob, he explains that he never needed Bob's help in the end, as charm won him Iona's affections. Bob decides to call it a night but on his way home he sees Drew and Iona giggling as they head to her flat. Hayley laments the fact that her and Jack never seem to do anything as a couple. She suggests a mini-break and Jack reluctantly agrees. Later, Robbie catches Hayley and Jack snogging, but before he has time to process the information or react, Gordon arrives back from London. Hayley and Jack are terrified that Robbie will spill the beans as Gordon brags about what he got up to in London. Once Gordon leaves, Robbie wants some answers; they beg him to keep quiet but he wants to have some fun with them first. Robbie goes on to wind Hayley and Jack up - a lot. Later, Hayley admits to Robbie that she really likes Jack so Robbie agrees to back off. Gordon tries to get Jack to come for a lads' weekend in Barcelona but it's the same weekend as the mini-break. Hayley is left fuming when Jack agrees to go away with Gordon to cheer him up. Gordon and Jack go to the pub and Gordon questions him about the atmosphere at the salon. Jack covers. Jack then briefly excuses himself and he heads for Hayley's flat. Hayley suggests they tell Gordon the truth but Jack makes excuses. Hayley finally explodes and admits to Jack that she doesn't want to lose him because she loves him. When Jack can't respond she throws him out and breaks down. Jack hesitates but then walks away. Elsewhere, Jo makes a surprise return from Australia with big plans for Ruth's wedding. Ruth has other ideas however. When Ruth finds out that Andy has accepted money from Jo for their honeymoon, Ruth is furious with them both and the sisters clash about their ideas for the big day. An upset Jo eventually admits she was over the top with the wedding, but explains it's only because she'll never get to marry Nazir. Ruth hugs her and they make up. Ruth and Andy also reconcile when she makes him swear never to lie to her again.
