Radio 3 Lunchtime Concert

EDINBURGH INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL 2010 Chamber music with youthful verve from the Pavel Haas Quartet. Former BBC New Generation Artists, and regular visitors to Scotland, the Czech musicians perform a work by the composer from whom they take their name: Pavel Haas' patriotic Quartet, 'From the Monkey Mountains'. Astride this centrepiece stand two works: firstly a composition Benjamin Britten began working on as a student -his Three Divertimenti- and finally a princely score with a Russian tinge, Beethoven's String Quartet Op. 59 No.1.
