Radio 3 at the Summer Festivals. In a concert from the 2009 Edinburgh International Festival, the multi award-winning Emerson String Quartet perform two Mendelssohn Quartets - the earliest and the final of his oeuvre, for which the ensemble have been widely celebrated. This is contrasted with Beethoven's String Quartet No 10, reminiscent in some respects of the Fifth Symphony, which was written around the same time.
