This recital comes from the beautiful church of St Sepulchre-Without-Newgate in the heart of the City and a stone's throw from St Paul's. As part of the City of London Festival's focus on the Portuguese-speaking world, the concert opens with a work by the Brazilian composer Villa-Lobos, a prolific writer of quartets. Mendelssohn's last string quartet was written as a requiem to his dear sister Fanny, who died just months before her brother. Louise Fryer presents.
