With Catherine Bott. Elgar's late, great reflective choral ode, The Music Makers, was first performed in Birmingham's Town Hall in 1912. The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and Chorus celebrate the re-opening of the newly refurbished Town Hall in Elgar's 150th anniversary year with a performance of the work with mezzo-soprano Jane Irwin. This is preceded by another work premiered in 1912, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor's Violin Concerto.
