Presented by Petroc Trelawny. In a concert given at London's Royal Festival Hall, Esa-Pekka Salonen conducts the Philharmonia Orchestra in music by Janacek, Lindberg and Stravinsky. Featuring Janacek's enduringly popular Sinfonietta and the UK premiere of Magnus Lindberg's Graffiti for chorus and orchestra, a work commissioned by the Southbank Centre. The programme concludes with the complete ballet music for The Firebird, which was Stravinsky's first commission from Diaghilev and one that brought him to international prominence.
