From the BBC Proms 2009 season, Petroc Trelawny presents a concert given by the Staatskapelle Dresden under its chief conductor Fabio Luisi, in his Proms debut. And ever a favourite with Proms audiences, Chinese pianist Lang Lang performs Chopin's brilliantly virtuosic and romantically poetic Second Piano Concerto. The concert opens with a revised, expanded version of a 2006 work by British-born, Berlin-based composer Rebecca Saunders and ends with Struss's symphony inspired by an eventful mountain climb which he dedicated to this orchestra.
