Performance on 3 - English Concert - Handel, Vivaldi, Pergolesi

Presented by Martin Handley Soprano Susan Gritton and contralto Sara Mingardo join the English Concert and Harry Bicket to perform religious Baroque works. Antonio Vivaldi's Nisi Dominus is for solo alto while Pergolesi's famous Stabat Mater is a duet for both. These are preceded by Handel's Concerto grosso from Op.6. All three composers had careers in secular music, especially opera, but the depth of their faith is evident in these heartfelt sacred works.
