Presented by Martin Handley. In a concert from City Halls, Glasgow, the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and Ilan Volkov round off their series celebrating the great tradition of Czech music. Following the restrained beauty of Dvorak's poetic Legends, the orchestra is joined by one of America's finest pianists, Garrick Ohlsson, for a rare performance of Martinu's Fourth Concerto Incantation, with its combination of dreamy lyricism and driving energy. Ohlsson himself calls it 'a vigorous emotional rollercoaster'.
